Keeping God's Word: Psalm 119:1-11

Keeping God's Word: Psalm 119:1-11

By: Todd Hudnall

Psalm 119 is the
longest Psalm. It is an alphabetic psalm with each of the 22 letters of the
Hebrew alphabet being a stanza, having 8 verses each. It is a wonderful Psalm,
extoling God’s Law (Word). We will look at just the first 11 verses.

Psa. 119:1   Blessed are the undefiled in the way,

         Who
walk in the law of the LORD!

Psa. 119:2   Blessed are those who
keep His testimonies,

         Who
seek Him with the whole heart!

Psa. 119:3   They also do no iniquity;

         They
walk in His ways.

Psa. 119:4   You have commanded us

         To
keep Your precepts diligently.

Psa. 119:5   Oh, that my ways were directed

         To
keep Your statutes!

Psa. 119:6   Then I would not be ashamed,

         When
I look into all Your commandments.

Psa. 119:7   I will praise You with uprightness of heart,

         When
I learn Your righteous judgments.

Psa. 119:8   I will keep Your statutes;

         Oh,
do not forsake me utterly!

Psa. 119:9   How can a young man cleanse his way?

         By
taking heed according to Your word.

Psa. 119:10          With my whole heart I have sought You;

         Oh,
let me not wander from Your commandments!

Psa. 119:11          Your word I have hidden in my heart,

         That
I might not sin against You.

Receiving,
meditating on and obeying God’s Word is one of the greatest keys to getting
free and staying free.
