A Tale of Two Houses: Matthew 7:24-27

A Tale of Two Houses: Matthew 7:24-27

By: Todd Hudnall

Matt. 7:24 “Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock:

Matt. 7:25 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock.

Matt. 7:26 “But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand:

Matt. 7:27 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall.”

Both houses looked strong and secure until the storm came. It is often life’s storms that reveal what our life is built on and how secure we truly are. Both homeowners heard the word but only one acted on it. James 1:22 says, “But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.”

During the Break Free campaign it isn’t enough to gain knowledge about the subjects covered. We must act on what we learn. Let’s commit to do what we learn. This week it’s about practicing truth encounters. We must control our thoughts, casting down vain reasoning and deception for the truth of God’s Word.
